Switching on for Learning

The aim for most parents when it comes to children’s school, homework and learning success should be to set them up to work smarter and not harder. Long hours spent at a desk, consistent arguments and creative avoidance techniques will not set anyone up to be lifeline learners. Setting up a positive routine to prepare the body for learning can be just as important, if not more than allocating and designing your child a comfortable learning space within the home. I would say more critical as a positive routine to ‘switch on for learning’ can be used anywhere or anytime.

Below is a video running you through a simple sequence that can switch the brain on for learning. Like all routines, the more you use it, the more significant impact it has when required, but it still works wonders for a quick stop reset.

We personally use the sequence for sports more than school work and learning. Both children have enjoyed the benefit of being switched on mentally and physically when feeling nervous or exhausted in sports.
